In 2018, Atlanta Emerging Markets, Inc. funded a $750,000 leverage loan to Summerhill for the development of a commercial district on Georgia Avenue. The funds are being used to redevelop eight existing building and construct two new buildings. Located in the historic Summerhill neighborhoods adjacent to the former Turner Field stadium, the commercial district development is the first phase of a 35-acre development effort. The larger effort will help transform the area into an urban mixed-use neighborhood that includes corporate office, multi-family apartments, retail and student housing.
The Georgia Avenue development is expected to include experienced, local tenants that will activate the vacant commercial corridor with a variety of uses including a brewery, BBQ restaurant, ice cream shop, pizza restaurant, a fried chicken quick service restaurant, and other retail and office uses.
