Atlanta Emerging Markets, Inc. utilized a $12,000,000 NMTC transaction to help finance Grady Memorial Hospital’s $76,000,000 expansion and renovation of its Emergency Department. The expansion will include the development of a new 90,224 square foot emergency department tower, additional treatment areas, 10 exam rooms for imaging and procedures, 12 exam rooms for clinical and behavioral health, and other physician support/administration space. The project will create over 65 new full-time jobs and over 130 temporary construction jobs, in addition to expanding the capacity of the Emergency Department to serve an addition 20,000 patients annually. Grady directly serves Atlanta’s low income residents, as 55% of patients seen at the Emergency Department are uninsured and 34% receive Medicaid or Medicare benefits.
