In 2017, Gilliam’s Community Garden received a $15,000 Civic Impact Loan from AEMI to go towards their initiative. By providing the space to garden, expertise to assist others, and education to empower, Gilliam’s exists to build their community. This community garden strives to teach children how to cultivate land and respect the eco system. In addition to instructing residents on how to prepare, juice and eat vegetables, Gilliam’s Community Garden provides access to fresh fruits, vegetables, and green space for everyone in the community to enjoy. Church groups, schools, volunteers, and families are encouraged to use the garden to learn how to be sustainable. For more information, visit http://gilliamsgardens.wixsite.com/farm.
