In 2018, Atlanta Emerging Markets, Inc. closed on a $3,200,000 Atlanta Advantage Loan Fund transaction with MLK Holdings, LLC to help fund the building improvements for 2001 MLK. Built in 1974, the six-story, 75,000 SF building is to provide tenants with a facility that is representative of the local community. 2001 MLK has prominent exposure to both I-20 and the BeltLine trail.
Once revitalized, the 2001 MLK Building will be one of the keystones to the upgraded MLK Corridor. The vision is to make 2001 MLK a catalyst of economic activity and social energy. Besides preserving the cultural history of the building, the finished project will become a commercial hub for small businesses and a training hub for city youth needing core skills for jobs.
